A Gnostic Dream of 2012 © 2005 by Jonathan Zap The following dream about 2012 was reported to me by a young woman who originally contacted me because of her interest in androgyny. She had recorded the dream in her journal a few months before becoming acquainted with my work. I was standing on the stoop of the house I grew up in with Kurt Cobain, and we were talking like old friends. I asked him, "What's going to happen in 2012?" And he said "Nothing." Then, he took me somewhere where we saw a monument, an overhead view as if we were flying above it. I thought the monument had something to do with Kurt. Then he showed me people making a time capsule. The time capsule was a huge concrete cylinder, and people were putting tee-shirts in it. The tee-shirts had slogans on them. Finally, I ...

Parallel Journeys
black and white copy of Parallel Journeys collage © 1996 Jonathan Zap Parallel Journeys ©2001, 2005 Jonathan Zap I know I may be exceeding the limits of whatever credibility I have in your eyes, but I feel an intense inner compulsion to tell you about the anomalous experience that occurred to me just last night. As you learned from my earlier email I am now in Seattle where I am continuing my traveling fundraising canvass for the Pinion Mesa Animal Refuge. I was out knocking on doors, "annoying people in the privacy of their own homes , " as Danny, my canvassing mentor used to describe it when we canvassed together for a well known environmental group. It was a rainy evening and Seattle was troubled by a thick fog, a fog that had the mind-numbing feeling ...
A Gnostic View of Mind Parasites copyright 2005 by Jonathan Zap > "Ghost of a Flea" by William Blake The Sick Rose O rose thou art sick. The invisible worm. That flies in the night In the howling storm. Has found out thy bed Of crimson joy, And his dark secret love Does thy life destroy. —William Blake from Songs of Innocence and Experience, Plate 37 The Sick Rose, a poem William Blake wrote about two hundred years ago, begins my essay Mind Parasites, Energy Parasites and Vampires. Our species is at a critical evolutionary nexus and one of the most crucial of all tasks that lie before us, maybe even more crucial than finding alternative energy or doing something about global warming, is to put the invisible worm under the magnifying glass of attention and understanding. This invisible worm may be that strange unknown constant that corrupts our ...
Archetypes of a New Evolution © Jonathan Zap, 1978 Submitted in fulfillment of the requirements for Honors in Philosophy Ursinus College Advisor: Dr. Williamson Spring 1978 (This paper, written when I was just twenty years old, contains many of the key insights I have been working on ever since. Here is where I first discovered what I have since called the “singularity archetype,” and first analyzed what it means as an evolutionary template for the human species. Introduced in this paper, is the concept of “ Homo gestalt,” ...
Have you ever felt that the world might be your dream, felt alienated, set apart from others, overwhelmed at times by your inner thought process? If you have, then you may find Dostoevsky and the Profound Egocentric , written when I was just nineteen years old, to be very relevant to your inner experience. My adult consciousness began with the writing of this paper, but it wasn’t until the following year, when I was twenty, that I connected the psychological state of profound egocentrism with an evolutionary model, and recognized its connection to the dawning of a new mode of consciousness and communication (see Archetypes of a New Evolution) . In The Path of the Numinous http://www.zaporacle.com/textpattern/article/10/the-path-of-the-numinous-living-and-working-with-the-creative-muse- I describe the origins of ...
Partial Transcript of March 7th Coast to Coast Am with George Noory and Jonathan Zap I started trying to transcribe the whole show, but started to realize it was a gigantic project and more time then I’m willing to invest. Also transcribed conversation tends to seem a bit goofey, you see all the sloppiness of off the cuff talk and lose all the subtleties of intonation. You can download the show as an MP3 from coasttocoastam.com. You do have to pay, unfortunately, but a full month of streamlink is only $5.95 and gives you access to a 90 day archive of shows. If you liked the show, feel free to email coastproducer@aol.com and tell them that you would like to see me back on. I would like to ...
Recent email dialouge between me and John Jenkins about the nature of time: Zap: Hey John, Sometime before Monday I want to talk to you about your concept of the "center of time." It think that is one of the most incisive, rhetorically effective statements, "It's not the end of time, it is the center of time." Last time we discussed whether time can be seen as a circle or is there a teleology that can stretch that circle toward a spiral if the universe, as Terrance and I believe, seeks an increase in novelty, self awareness? Is there an arrow in time, an evolutionary goal? Teilhard de Chardin seems to make a good case for this. This of course is hard to reconcile with a more Eastern, eternal ...
Looking Toward the Event Horizon—The Singularity Archetype and the Metamorphosis of the Species
Looking Toward the Event Horizon---The Singularity Archetype and the Metamorphosis of the Species © Jonathan Zap Edited by Austin Iredale (This article was published in Australian Magazine New Dawn on December 1st, 2008, and is reproduced here with their permission). Through a Glass Darkly When we talk about the future we attempt to look, through a glass darkly, at a landscape that is unknown and unformed. Prophecy is a notoriously tricky and unreliable enterprise. Many people who have sought to look through that dark glass have seen images that were distorted reflections of themselves---of their hopes, fears and expectations. If there is a universal theme in the visions of prophets it is the prediction that extremely dramatic events will occur within ...
A Mutant Convergence--- How John Major Jenkins, Jonathan Zap and Terence McKenna met during a Weekend of High Strangeness in 1996 © 2009, by John Major Jenkins and Jonathan Zap Edited by Austin Iredale In the Spring of 2006, John Major Jenkins and Jonathan Zap were reminded that it had been exactly ten years since they had met through the late visionary genius Terence McKenna during a long, strange weekend in 1996. Both still felt haunted by Terence’s untimely passing, and thought about writing a book about him and how his work related to and influenced theirs, a kind of trialogue with the dead. Then they tentatively decided the book would focus on 2012 and the working title became: “Dialogues at the Edge of 2012 ----Journeying toward the Event Horizon amidst the New Age Carnival and Fundamentalist Doom Sayers.” Jonathan wanted the title to be “Carnival 2012” ...
