Hungry Ghost

Hungry Ghost

This card indicates the presence of parasitism, and morbid, ravenous appetites. This could involve aspects of yourself, or of others (persons, entities). A life that is not driven by meaning, by a core of self development and the will to help others, quickly devolves into the hungry ghost lifestyle where one is forever looking for the next buzz, the next rush, hottie, payout, whatever, to fill the vast, bored, inner emptiness that can never be sated. Be wary of absorbing toxins of any kind. The positive aspect is that this is a propitious time to work on detoxification. “I can resist anything except temptation.” — Oscar Wilde Temptations are very, very tempting and that is probably why they are called temptations. It is foolish to underestimate their power. Before you reach for a temptation, ask yourself if you will remember this indulgence well on your deathbed. If you will, then you’d be a fool to pass it up. If you won’t, and you keep on reaching for it again and again and again, then you are on the path of a Ring Wraith, withering into a hungry ghost. There are many forces within us: appetites, compulsions, complexes, and sub-personalities, and [...]

There are many forces within us: appetites, compulsions, complexes, and sub-personalities, and all of them are reaching for the steering wheel. We each need to develop a strong central witness personality, one capable of observing and overseeing the process without becoming possessed by a compulsion, appetite, or inferior sub-personality. You are surrounded by black magicians — advertisers, acquaintances, and possibly unseen entities, who tempt you from within and without toward a toxic fate. But you are not just a passive recipient of temptations, you may also be a [...]

Maternal Nurturing

Maternal Nurturing

We live in a world where the feminine values, like maternal nurturing, are often woefully lacking. You do not need to be a female to be capable of maternal nurturing, but you do need some connection with your inner feminine. M. Scott Peck has an interesting definition of love — “I define love thus: The will to extend one’s self for the purpose of nurturing one’s own or another’s spiritual growth.” Someone once said that, “Love is cool, it is not hot.” It is crucial to distinguish love from passion, infatuation, codependence and sentimentality. It is also said that love is a verb, not a noun. What you love is what you spend time on. Sometime in the Nineties an eighty-year-old woman, who was a Jungian analyst, gave a talk I attended in Boulder. At the end of her talk there were questions from the audience and the first one came from a young woman. “Now that you are an elder,” asked the young woman, “what you can tell me as a young woman about a love?” The elder woman replied, “When I was your age I was desperately trying to be loved. But now I know that it is [...]

Water of Life Available in the Babylon Matrix

Water of Life Available in the Babylon Matrix

“Happiness does not depend on outward things, but on the way we see them.” – Tolstoy Accessing the water of life while in the Babylon Matrix. From one vantage, it can seem like we live in an arid, toxic world of asphalt and metal with nothing to nourish our weary spirits. But look beneath the surface of our world and you can find the same primal nourishment that all humans have found. There are still people and other mammals capable of caring, and there have never been so many available in need of care. The primal nourishment we need is love. It is the resource to allows our souls to develop. The other necessary side of that primal nourishment is the opportunity to love others and provide resources for their development. According to some, there are more human beings alive today than all the human beings that have ever died. Most of them have some capacity for caring, and even more have some receptivity to be cared for. And if you don’t care for people, there are other life forms here capable of giving and receiving love. And when we consider the availability of resources for self-development, our age seems [...]
