Mind Parasites – A Potent X Factor in Human Experience and Evolution

The tragedy of people getting shot at a showing of The Dark Knight Rises, is not a random, incomprehensible event. Mass shootings, like the one that just happened in Aurora, have become a recurrent nightmare that haunts the collective psyche. As the nightmare repeats, we see patterns emerging. Movies are a collective dream delivery technology. Some movies that have high access to the contents of the collective unconscious, are what Charles Fort called “window zones,” or portals between realms, and weird and uncanny things happen in their wake. Particularly, movies about dark, occult things have a long history of these crossover effects.

Zones of inner jeopardy (ZIJ) are those familiar times when we are inwardly stressed, our thoughts and emotions are agitated, and we may be enveloped by dark moods. The causes of ZIJ are various, and usually there are multiple causes such as metabolic disequilibria, social/sexual issues, financial hardship, disturbances in the force and so forth.”ZIJ” is used in this essay to refer to both zones of inner jeopardy and a way of dealing with them.

A mind parasite encounter in Frank Herbet’s Heretics of Dune is employed to discuss parasatism and energetic transactions.

This article derives from a discussion I had with Alex in 2005 and an interview I did with George Noory and Alex in 2006.. Alex narrates an out of body vision which lead to his painting “Demons and Dieties Drinking from the Milky Pool.” I provide some analysis of his experience and comments on two other paintings of his which have mind parasite imagery.
